Wilson history

1914 - 1967

1914 - The first Wilson tennis racket, costing only $0.075, was made with a solid wood frame, a second ash frame and a finely combed cedar handle.

1917 - Blue Ribbon
The “Blue Ribbon” racket is one of 28 Wilson models sold this year. The Wilson catalog describes the racquet as: "made of white ash, with a special oval shape, a pressed walnut handle and reinforced with dogwood."

1935 - The "Ellsworth Vines" tennis racquets offered the first customization to the tennis game by allowing athletes to determine the weight and balance of their racquet.

1935 - The release of the original leather grip, known as the Mahogany Leather Grip, gave athletes new and unparalleled feel and grip.

1949 - Jack Kramer Autograph Racquet The Jack Kramer Autograph tennis racquet brought incredible power to the tennis game and was made with a laminated ash construction. Over 10 million Jack Kramer racquets were ultimately sold between 1949 and 1981. The racket was used by John McEnroe, Tracy Austin, Arthur Ashe, Billie Jean King and many more tennis players on their way to more Grand Slam titles than any other racket during that time.

1967 - The era of wooden rackets ends with the introduction of the first commercially available metal racket - the Wilson T2000. Its durability and light weight continue to influence the way tennis rackets are built to this day.

1968 - 1983

1969 - Billie Jean King Autograph Racket The perfectly balanced Strata-Bow racket for the professional tennis player. Used by Billie Jean King in her fifth Wimbledon victory, this racket not only offered special flexibility in the head, but also a long and strong handle to reduce torque. The King Autograph Racket is made from the finest ash with natural beech shoulder top layers and finished with beautiful, long, blue Speed-Flex fiber throats.

1975 - Chris Evert Autograph Racket A tournament racket that was specifically tailored to the needs of professional players. The frame was not only lighter overall, but also had optimized maneuverability, especially in the racket head. The handle was more flexible, which meant that significantly more power was achieved in the shots. The Chris Evert racket had a 7" long handle and offered more control, especially for two-handed backhand shots. The racket was made with the famous American construction of white ash and Strata-Bow.

1980 - Wilson began producing rackets with a completely new construction: graphite and Kevlar. This also made the Pro Staff racket popular with professional players.

1984 - 1998

1987 - The redesigned Wilson racquet is the first tennis racquet with a wider head, offering players a whole new level of power.

1990 - Wilson introduced Hammer technology, offering tennis players the largest sweet spot of any racquet to date. The Hammer 2.7si weighed just 283g and was one of the lightest and most powerful racquets of its time.

1993 - Sledge Hammer® 3.8 The Sledge Hammer took Hammer technology a step further. It was lighter than any other racquet to date. Its "fan" head shape and string pattern moved the sweet spot to the upper part of the frame, where most balls are hit.

1998 - Hyper Sledge Hammer® 2.0 Wilson dominates the lightweight racquet market with an ultra-light material called Hyper Carbon™. Originally used in the aerospace industry, Hyper Carbon is the lightest and strongest material ever used in a tennis racquet. After its introduction in October 1998, the Hyper Sledge Hammer® 2.0 quickly became the best-selling racquet in the United States.

1999 - 2009

2001- TRIAD® 3.0 Wilson makes the breakthrough - power, comfort and control can now be offered simultaneously without compromise. The revolutionary three-component design makes it possible to separate the parts from each other thanks to the new polymer Iso-Zorb between the head and handle. Maximum power in the head, control in the handle and comfort thanks to Iso-Zorb offer a level of performance that was previously impossible with all tennis rackets.

2004 - nCode® With Nano Technology™, Wilson has broken the atomic code of the racket to create a new class of frames. This revolutionary process with a new frame design and new string bed technology (nZone) ensures a longer product life cycle, power and playability. nCode rackets are up to 2 times stronger, 2 times more stable and have 22% more power than conventional rackets.

2007- [K] Factor ® Four groundbreaking technologies combine to create the [K]Factor racket. Serena Williams and Roger Federer switch to the [K]Factor at the Australian Open and bring home the title. [K]Factor combines the next generation of Nano technology and the unique innovations in frame construction ([K]onnector™, [K]ontour Yoke™ and [K]ompact Center™). All technologies result in the line of [K]ontrol rackets that are suitable for all types of players.

2014

2014 - 100 Years of Wilson This year, Wilson Sporting Goods Co. reaches a century of success in the sports market, a milestone achieved by a small number of the world's strongest brands. With unwavering passion, Wilson is about much more than just products. This brand exists to create memories with athletes. Wilson has been led with this goal since 1914 and has celebrated more titles than any other brand in sports. These include over 500 tennis Grand Slam titles, 61 golf majors, 20 basketball Final Four championships, 93 World Series and 47 Super Bowls.

2014 - Spin Effect Technology Over the last 25 years, spin has revolutionized the game of tennis. The new Spin Effect Technology generates more spin without having to change the shot. Wilson engineers have refined every detail of the racket to achieve more spin on every shot over 200 RPM, making the net feel 5cm higher and the court 30cm longer.

2014 - New RF97 Autograph Racket The first Wilson Autograph racket in almost 40 years. The RF97 retains the true, classic feel of the iconic Pro Staff line in a frame designed by Roger Federer himself. This makes the racket ideal for aggressive players looking for more control in their shots. This racket offers a 10% larger sweet spot and significantly more power on groundstrokes and volleys.

2016 - 2017

2016 - New Design DNA Wilson Labs developed a minimalist design with simple, modern, clean lines and bold color accents that symbolize the strength, power and skill of the player. Wilson creates timeless, clean and detailed designs by focusing on the essentials and removing all superfluous elements. With the launch of the new RF97 Autograph - with a matte black and velvet frame, black chrome finish and laser engraving never seen before in tennis - these rackets have a new DNA that gives the player a psychological advantage.

2017 - Wilson has achieved more titles than any other tennis brand with over 600 Grand Slam victories.

2017 - Serena Williams Autograph Becoming one of the greatest athletes of all time doesn't just happen. Serena dedicated her life to an unparalleled reputation, both on and off the court. To recognize her achievements and success, Wilson created the Blade SW104 Autograph racket, which features Wilson's brand new Countervail technology. This year she also set the record for most major titles in the Open era by winning her 23rd Grand Slam at the Australian Open - the first Grand Slam title she won with her Autograph racket.

2018

2017 - Serena Williams is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time. She holds the most major singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles of any active player, male or female. She is the only player to have achieved a Golden Slam in both singles and doubles in her career. She holds a record 39 Grand Slam titles: 23 in singles, 14 in women's doubles and 2 in mixed doubles. She began her career at a very young age with a Wilson racquet and won all her titles on tour with a Wilson racquet.

2018 - Roger Federer has been ranked number 1 for 302 weeks, winning a total of 1139 matches, 96 titles, 20 Grand Slam titles and 2 Olympic medals - a record he continues to extend. He is considered by many to be the "GOAT" to ever play tennis. The Wilson brand also contributed to this success, as Roger played exclusively with Wilson throughout his entire career as a junior and professional.

2019

2019 – CLASH. The revolution in tennis. After three years of development, Wilson offers a completely new playing experience with the CLASH, tailored to modern tennis. Despite its high level of flexibility, the racket impresses with stability and control. For all those who want a racket that is easy and precise to play and that converts confidence into a powerful swing.

2019– Roger Federer 100 With his magnificent victory in Dubai, Roger Federer was able to secure his 100th ATP title. The Swiss tennis legend was able to celebrate this milestone in his career on March 2nd – with his Wilson Pro Staff, of course.

2020 - 2021

2020 - Ultra v3 - Power for everyone: The Ultra v3 improves two important performance metrics for players with a more classic horizontal swing: power and stability. Numerous improvements in geometry, together with the robust frame composition, create an impressively fresh feel and first-class hitting power. In addition, the new combination leads to more power and rigidity in the frame. The Ultra v3 is particularly chosen by aspiring juniors and doubles players due to its versatile power and stable constructions.

2021 - Blade v8 - Return to the wild: With its chic, color-changing, elastic finish, eye-catching design and top performance, the Blade v8 attracts attention. While the look of the racket changes between green and copper tones, the new FORTYFIVE0 technology ensures more flexibility and stability. This results in an excellent feel for today's modern and vertical swing! In addition, the extended carbon fiber handle runs all the way to the end cap to provide improved feel and torsional stability

2022

2022 - Clash v2 - Play Fearless: The new Wilson Clash v2 series seamlessly continues one of the most significant racket revolutions of recent years.
