HEAD with revolutionary engineering in tennis and skiing

The HEAD brand has its roots in skiing. Founder Howard Head became passionate about skiing in the mid-1940s, but was not satisfied with the prevailing material. As an engineer, he used metal and aircraft construction techniques to design a better, lighter and more efficient ski, taking his cue from the metal sandwich construction used in the aircraft industry. In 1968, HEAD established a tennis division within the company and just one year later presented the first metal tennis racket at the U.S. Open.

Howard Head sold his company in 1969 and dedicated his retirement to tennis. Since his tennis game had hardly improved even with a metal racket and numerous lessons, he developed the first oversized metal tennis racket. With his engineering skills and this innovative racquet, he revolutionized tennis after skiing.

HEAD is launching its most ambitious campaign yet to get us all playing more racquet sports like tennis, padel and pickleball. We have an important insight to share: Racquet sports are the most accessible games in the world. Anyone can play - regardless of age, fitness, skill or experience.

What other sports are so open to everyone? That means they have huge potential to inspire almost anyone to try them out for themselves. In other words, many people love tennis, padel and pickleball - they just don't know it yet. They can enjoy all the physical, mental and social benefits of the game, and HEAD is there to help with tips, tricks and all the performance equipment and apparel they might need.

This ambitious mission to get us all playing is encapsulated in the Your Game is Our Game campaign.

HEAD puts forward. Until now, simply no one has talked about tennis, padel or pickleball in this way. HEAD is now doing so in a campaign that literally anyone can join in on. It's an invitation to discover the sport, get active and healthy, and have fun.

This is going to be a game-changer. Your Game is Our Game.

Legendary rackets: HEAD as a driver of technical innovation

The HEAD brand stands for technical innovations in tennis. The inventors of the sporting goods company have repeatedly succeeded in bringing new tennis rackets onto the market that are way ahead of their time.

HEAD has included tennis rackets in the company's product range since the 1970s. The Head model "Arthur Ashe Competition" was one of the first composite rackets and considerably more stable than the wooden rackets that had almost exclusively been used up to that point. Arthur Ashe was able to help the HEAD brand achieve its first major successes in tennis with the silver-colored racket. He won the Wimbledon tournament with the legendary HEAD Arthur Ashe Competition 2. Andre Agassi's successes on the tennis court with the HEAD Radical, one of the great classics among the HEAD tennis rackets, will also remain unforgettable.

In 1997, HEAD produced the first tennis racket made of titanium and graphite, which enjoyed great popularity with its lightweight, arm-friendly design and represented a technical quantum leap. Another innovation for tennis was the development of the HEAD Intelligence, the first computer-controlled tennis racket, which used sensors to suppress around half of all vibrations and thus declared war on tennis elbow.
